West Virginia's Joe Bragg joins Rob on this episode to break down just exactly what is a tight line nymph. When Joe isn't putting out fires he is tying flies or fishing them. They discuss all things pepperoni rolls, how to avoid friction and drag when tying flies, how to properly hold a rod, and how to fish the right flies correctly.

Mentoring Foster Children Through Fly Fishing.

Rob interviews Jess Westbrook of The Mayfly Project. This not-for profit organization builds relationships with children in foster care through fly fishing and introduces them to their local water ecosystems, with a hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for foster children to have fun, feel supported, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.

Rob catches up with John McKinnie of McKinnie Fly Fishing Outfitters of Montana. Rob and John fished together a few years ago during the spring Potomac shad run. John learned about fly fishing on an eastern tidal river. Now its his turn to talk about where he lives and fishes. They discuss local food, water levels, driving time to local rivers, getting out in the wilderness, and a mischievous elk met on the river.

Rob interviews members of The Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) about Washington D.C.'s waters and the fish that swim through them with a focus on shad. DOEE is the leading authority on energy and environmental issues affecting the District of Columbia. Using a combination of regulations, outreach, education, and incentives, their agency administers programs and services to fulfill it's mission. DOEE works collaboratively with other government agencies, residents, businesses, and institutions to promote environmentally responsible behavior that will lead to a more sustainable urban environment.

The Snowhite's spent a few days in Philadelphia over spring break. Rob’s wife had a list of bucket list restaurants to try. The best sandwich Rob ate might surprise you. This is not a fishing podcast. Favorite places to eat were Goldie, El Compadre, Zahav, and P&S Ravioli. Listen as Rob talks about his vacation and the observations he made while in Philly. Pictures on blog.

The Fly Fishing Show moved from Somerset to Edison this year. This is the largest fly fishing show in the world. Rob had some free time to walk around while tying and demonstrating his flies. Rob introduced his newest pattern, the Bass Siren. Be glad you can't smell the rotten shark eating contest.
